Deadly Dread

Posted by Trevy the Great on January 6, 2012 at 10:30 AM Comments comments (1)

Hey all!  I'm here do show you a pretty in-depth project that I just finished up.  This masterpeice is a Level 5 Space Wolves Dreadnought from Forge World, fully magnetized and customizable, featuring a nice scenic base and some awesome freehand. :D

The arms of the dreadnought are from a number of different sources, some forgeworld arms, some plastic GW ones and the autocannons and CCW arms are from a Polish company called Puppetswar.

New Year Sale - 10% off!

Posted by Trevy the Great on January 4, 2012 at 1:45 PM Comments comments (0)

Hey all!

In light the fact that this year will (if the Mayans knew anything at all) be humanity's last on Earth, you're all probably thinking that you'd like to go out with all of your minis painted to perfection, right?

Right?

Well, I've decided to make it a little easier for you!

Starting today (January 3rd), I'll be offering a 10% discount on all services rendered by me on all projects scheduled between now and January 11th (one week from now), and received by me before January 21st (applicable only to projects that include models shipped to me by the client).

This discount doesn't include models or bitz purchased through me, only the actual services themselves.

Because I'm not currently located in a stuffy and overly tight dorm room, I can take as many projects as can be thrown at me.  While I'm not putting any size limits on the project, if someone decides to send me their 200+ model Skaven army we might need to work something out. :D

So feel free to contact me to set up any new projects!

Happy New Years!

It's that time again!

The time when we celebrate the coming of a new rotation around the sun and mourn the passing of the last.

I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank everyone who has helped this little business of mine get to where it is - all my clients, readers, followers on my YouTube channel and various other social networking portals, the opponents who put up with my shenanigans for batreps and the wonderful people who produce the games which we play!

Thank you to all, and I hope you all have a very productive 2012!

And on that note, I'd like to remind everyone that this will be humanities last time on Earth, 'cause it's gonna die!

Also, things are looking a little slow at the moment, so if you're looking at starting a new project, now is the time!  As I said earlier, I don't currently have a size-limit on projects (within reason, of course) because of the holidays.

Dystopian Wars Testimonial

Posted by Trevy the Great on December 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM Comments comments (0)

Whew, I haven't been posting on this blog nearly enough.

I got a letter about the Dystopian Wars project that I recently finished days ago and I am only posting now...

Heya,

Okay, first, I got and was able to go through the DysWars stuff and all I can say is that it's awesome.

Let's handle some of the professional end of things...

-your packaging and shipping could not have been better.  The attention you paid to secure all the models and then the package overall was top notch.

-your communication through out was spectacular.  Your response time is extremely short and you aren't afraid to ask questions.  You constantly showed WIP pics and were very pleasant to deal with.

-the pricing of the job was solid.  I do not feel that I overpaid for your services and in the overall scheme of things for the service you delivered I am very pleased.

-the actual paint job is very solid.  You used a few different techniques and displayed solid brush control.  The models do not appear "rushed" and your final selection of the color palette worked really well.

-I will not be hesitating to recommend you to my friends as a painting service.

So Thank you very much.  Overall the experience was extremely positive.

There you go...

Beastmen Sold!

That's right, folks!  The Beastmen are out the door and no longer available for sale!

As always, if you want a reproduction of this army, let me know!

Bigger is better!

Just a little PSA...

I'm going to be going home for the holidays (and there's no place like home for the holidays).  This means that I'll have more space and time to paint toy soldiers over the course of the next month or so, so if any one wants to commission a larger project (i.e. larger than 30 infantry), let me know because I can take those larger projects right now.

My new favorite list

Posted by Trevy the Great on December 6, 2011 at 3:30 PM Comments comments (0)

This is a bit of a random tactical post.  Be warned; tactics be afoot!

I thought about the list that I used for my last batrep, and found that because of some silly mathematical error or somesuch, I actually had 20 points remaining in it that I didn't spend.  Looking back at my list, I don't really know what I spend them on...  I guess Meltabombs are a decent investment, but then again I'd have to remember who had them.  Lame.

Then, come to find out; Razorbacks are only 5 points more than Rhinos.  Awesome.

So; here's my latest list for the feared Angels Perditus:

Sanguinor

Sanguinary Priest w/ Jump Pack

Sanguinary Priest w/ Jump Pack

Sanguinary Priest w/ Jump Pack

Scout Squad w/ Camo Cloaks, Sniper Rifles, Missile Launcher

10-man Assault Squad w/ Meltagun, Flamer, Power Weapon

10-man Assault Squad w/ Meltagun, Flamer, Power Weapon

10-man Assault Squad w/ Meltagun, Flamer, Power Weapon

10-man Tactical Squad w/ Missile Launcher, Flamer

Razorback w/ Additional Stormbolter

10-man Tactical Squad w/ Missile Launcher, Flamer

Razorback w/ Additional Stormbolter

Devastator Squad w/ 4 Missile Launchers

Devastator Squad w/ 4 Missile Launchers

Unfortunately that still leaves me with 10 points to spend...  I don't particularly like adding random meltabombs or somesuch to units 'cause I forget them. :(

I've been considering dropping the Scout squad, but they're such a difficult-to-remove pain in so many players sides and they're a great objective holder for 100 points.  I just don't know what to replace them with!

Overall I like the list, it's very solid, performs well in all phases of the game and can really form a quite resilient offensive or defensive force, although it has 3 big flaws:  10 points remaining :D, the fact that I need to acquire two Razorback turrets for my Rhinos (although I think I have one kicking around somewhere), and the fact that I can't use the obscenely pretty top hatches that I painted up for them.

On a slightly unrelatated note, I have a couple more models to paint, but one I do I'll get photos of this army up for people to see.  I've gotten a lot of requests for that.

I've been thinking a lot about the tactics of the game lately, so I hope to write some more tactics articles for the true gamers out there to scoff at in the future.  Also, I'm looking for some Razorback turrets, so if anyone has some...

Looking for Projects!

Posted by Trevy the Great on December 3, 2011 at 10:30 PM Comments comments (0)

I'm running a little short on projects at the mo'. :(

I've got one in right now that shouldn't take me too long, and then I'll be all on my lonesome with no toy soldiers to keep me company!

I'd like to keep busy over the course of the holidays, so please, by all means, hit me up for a quote or a new project - no matter how large or tiny and insignificant!

Look at ALL the Boats!

Posted by Trevy the Great on December 1, 2011 at 4:20 PM Comments comments (0)

The Dystopian Wars project that I've been showing off for a the last couple of weeks is finally complete and its the first project that I've been able to complete in quite a while.

The whole thing is Level 3 and for it I used a white undercoat, which is a style that I'm not too experienced with but I think that the effect is really cool.

These are the first Dystopian Wars models that I've painted (and certainly the smallest scale... barring Battlefleet Gothic) and I'm not opposed to doing more!  Contact me for a quote if you have some pseudo-historical steampunk warships for me to paint!

Anyhoo, here's a pic-dump.  These were taken in the makeshift lightbox that I've set up in my dorm room, so any input on the quality of the images would be appreciated!

Below are some of the air-support vessels for the fleet.  They are normally packaged with clear flying stands (I think they are, anyway).

Hope you enjoyed!  As always, more photos can be found in the photo gallery to the left!

Look! Flying boats!

Here it is, the final installment in the epic "Look!  Boats!" trilogy.

Are they boats?  Are they planes?  No!  They're superman!

Pretty cool?  Huh?

Anyhoo, this project is out of the painting stage - I'll have some final photos up later on this week and then... stay tuned for some awesome Space Wolves Dreadnought action!
